FnaticMSI.CoD with a stand-in for DH Winter

Dreamhack Winter is drawing near, hosting another Modern Warfare 2 tournament after the i38 series. We are sorry to announce that Stevy "Stevy" Verheyen won't be able to participate in the tournament due to unfortunate circumstances, thus, FnaticMSI.CoD will play with a stand-in for the upcoming event.

Star from our team and one of the best players in the world, Stevy, headed to Sweden with his father, to meet up with his teammates to prepare for the upcoming COD4: MW2 tournament at Dreamhack.

While driving to the destination point, they have experienced a car accident, ending up with injuries that fortunately do not put their lives in any danger. Stevy has got whiplash and concussion, while his father has broken his arm.

This leads to the announcement and a stand-in for our Sniper player at the Dreamhack Winter event. Fredrik "qLimAxzU" Idh of Unique-esports will be on loan to our team only during the event, while Stevy will of course return as soon as he recovers.

Stand-in Fredrik "qLimAxzU" Idh had the following to say for himself:

"Hi, my name is Fredirk Idh, I'm going to merc for Stevy at Dreamhack. I'm looking forward to meet and play with the FnaticMSI team, it's going to be great fun and I will do my best for the team. Hope to see you all there."

FnaticMSI business development manager, Neil "kboy" Kirk about recent happenings:

"After a severe car accident it is very fortunate that Stevy and his Father escaped with minor injuries. Stevy will be kept in Hospital for the next two days to recover and for observations. Obviously his health is of great importance to us and it is with deep regret that he will miss the Dreamhack event. Very kindly Unqiue-esports have loaned us Fredrik qLimAxzU' Idh as our 5th at short notice. I would personally like to thank them for their help and assistance. The team are now trying to focus on their performance. After Stevy has recovered he will obviously return to the full line-up but sadly not in time for this event."

Activision to donate up to £250,000 if you play MW2!

Whilst many in the competitive community have shunned Activision's latest hot selling game Modern Warfare 2 and following on from the news of the $500 million windfall in sales of the game in its first week, the publisher has decided to give something back.

Makers of the game Infinity Ward, publishers Activision and both Game and Xbox Live are behind the iniative in support of War Child, a childrens charity that was setup to "support and strengthen the protective environment for children who, as a result of conflict, live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion."

During the weekend of the 5th & 6th of December if over 600,000 UK users log on to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, a donation will be made to War Child of £150,000, with £25,000 donated for every 100,000 users after that, up to a maximum of £250,000.

GAME will also be selling War Child wrist bands instore, and Xbox Live Gold Membership will be free on that weekend, to ensure that as many people as possible are able to play the game online. There is also a facebook fan page setup for those who wish to register their support for the iniative, however there is still no news for the competitive scene on any changes.

Element with changes

Element welcome Jake “Jakey” Crozier back into the teams line up after a not so subtle departure after i38. However, Jake “Jakey” Crozie has replaced Ryan “erasus” Williams due to internal conflicts within the team.

Jake is not the only update Element have given us as the Norwegian player Alex “alex” Rude-Evensen, a former Olso Lions player has also joined Element.

Statement from Louis "evz" Evans: "Making this move was a hard move to make, Leaving ryan behind was the hardest and took a lot of consideration to do so. Eventually deciding on what we should do, we replaced Ryan with Jake as all-in-all, the reason Jake left was due to Ryan, so we couldnt just let Jake back into the team as it would have caused more problems. But away with the bad news and in with the good. We were looking for a new player after lan and had come across a lot of very talented players, but to say the least Alex is a great pick up for us and we are looking forward to having a very prosperous future with the new addition."

Most of the Call of Duty 4 scene was shocked to see you entering the eSuba.CoD4 line up seeing as this is a Czech organisation. How do you feel being the only non Czech player in the CoD4 team? Is communication strong within the team whilst playing a match?

"It feels the same as joining an English line-up for me, they all speak English well enough to communicate properly in and outside the game so it’s not a problem at all!"


How did you approach the organisation, or did they approach you?

"I have known Paradox, Mazarini and Luboshmir for quite a while, attended a lot of the same LANs, I always liked them and they are obviously very skilled as well, then I heard that they needed new players so we started playing together and it just clicked."


You don’t carry a big ego with you, your calm, relaxed and are a great person, do you feel this helped?

"Even though I haven’t always been a calm player I find that it really helps if you just stay calm and focus on the game, that’s something I have learned in the last year, obviously people wouldn’t ask you to join their team if they disliked you so I’m sure this has helped getting me into eSuba."


From being in The Imperial which was relatively short lived, do you feel you have found your ground and will stay with these players?

"I was only a summerlans merc for The Imperial because Mean couldn’t attend the summerlans so I played for them, it was a short but fun stay nevertheless"


Do you have any major plans to attend some Call of Duty 4 LAN events as a team in the up and coming months?

"Our plan is to attend as many big lans as possible, this might also include a few local Czech lans, but you will definitely see us on most big lans."


As for the eSuba SteelSeries Frag Fest, are you looking forward to competing in that, especially with your old team The Imperial competing will we be seeing some extreme try facing?

"I'm always looking forward to any official match and of course playing your ex-team always makes u want to play just that little bit better :P"


With Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 nearing the shelves, is the teams plans to move to MW2 still in place?

"Yeah we are planning to move over to MW2, if it turns out to be any good, which I somewhat doubt but I do hope it will be good because COD4 is becoming slightly less entertaining after 2 years of playing."

Lucky to be back!

Three days ago, it was rumoured that out Call of Duty 4 team had left the organisation. These rumours were of course true and news spread across the internet. This came with a shock to the community, but our search didn’t go far.

The community were expecting the return of Lukas’ “luckeR” Blazek, but this wasn’t seen to happen and the community was disappointed not to see their favourite sniper back in action. Those, who have now seen the good news are not surprisingly celebrating as luckeR returns to the Call of Duty 4 Scene with his own team!

We will be expecting some great results from this team with such an impressive line up as this. Peter "hectic" König, who played Call of Duty 4 under nEophyte and later for Necroraisers. Michal 'trunk' Břoušek who played with the organisation We Were Immortal. The fourth name on the roster is Francis "Holly" Ulrych who played for our local rivels, nEophyte and SnoopY. Last but not least, we have Pavel "dreader" Parish, which a year ago helped nEophyte take home the World Gamemaster Tournament silver medal.

Statement from Lukas' luckeR "Blažek : "To be honest, I didn’t think you would ever see me playing for any team again. I was dealing with the former eSuba cod4 team for some time, but eventually I decided to continue with playing with this great group of people. We’re having a lot of fun and I would feel sorry leaving them just like that. The day when former CoD squad left eSuba my phone rang. It was Scop and I immediately knew what was going on. I was pleased that eSuba remembered of their “old” friend just at that moment. So I got a task. I had to come up with a squad who would be able to represent eSuba on WGT lan party which is taking place pretty soon. There was nothing to think about. I said why not to try win the tournament with these people. They are very experienced concerning lan parties and I dare to say that this is the most important thing. This should be our advantage against the others. As most of you know we do not spend so much time playing the game now, but we still want to show everybody what we got and try to do our best to win it. I hope you will give us some support. Keep your fingers crossed. We will try to do the best we can. See ya @ WGT guys !!!"

With the most important CZ/SK tournament ahead - WGT, we simply couldn't miss being there. We have found a new team in luckeR's half-mixed lineup, which has an enormous potential to win. The arrangements were made very fast and without any problem, we both know that there is nothing to lose and that we have reached a win-win situation. Tek-9.org have been following the under anticipated Modern Warfare 2 game, as announced earlier, Modern Warfare 2 will have no dedicated servers, no lean, no console, no competitive mods along with special perks being allowed. Although these problems tarnish the future of competitive play, the tournament are prepared to go ahead with the MW2 LAN.

Official announcement Multiplay.co.uk: "Today we are pleased to announce that the very first Modern Warfare 2 tournaments on the PC and Xbox 360 are to be held at i38, 13th to 16th of November at Newbury Racecourse.

Activision will not only have a huge presence in our i38 exhibition hall, but they will be bringing with them the most hotly anticipated title of the year; Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game will be available to play in all it’s glory on 24 Xbox 360s, 6 Xbox 360 pods, and 24 of the latest gaming PCs on the Activision stand, with jDome technology giving gamers 180 degree vision of the action.

Players will be able to purchase Modern Warfare 2 at i38, with EAS attendees able to pick up their copies as early as 6pm on Thursday 12th!

Razer Challenge reaches final stages

After the Razer Challenge competition kicked off on Monday (the 23rd of November) with the first three rounds, the tournament hosted by Esports Heaven in cooperation with Razer (www.razerzone.com) has reached the final stages of the single elimination.

Out of the 128 teams that started out on Monday 16 remain, fighting for a spot in the quarter finals later today, when the competition continues at 20:00 CET (19:00 GMT).

Among the list of teams still left in the tournament we find some of the most respected names in Europe, including Reason Gaming, Power Gaming, Epsilon Esports, team unique (moO.se) and Burning, as well as several up and coming teams. One of the teams surprisingly knocked out of the tournament are Team Dignitas, who already played their fourth round game but lost to the Croatian side imex.
